SHAFAQNA – An Introduction to Islamic E-Ethics: How to Use Internet and Social Media Morally and Spiritually

With the advancement of IT, many new ways of communication, spending time and resources and making decisions have become possible. What should our moral response and moral usage involve? How can we make our usage of internet and activities on social media compatible with our spirituality and, if possible, go even further and make them part of our spiritual development. This lecture first refers to some aspects of Islamic theory of ethics in general and E-ethics in particular and then refers to some of the values that should govern online activities and ends with enumerating some of the manners of online activities.

This lecture was delivered on the 16th Dec 2015 at the University of Oxford in a three day conference on “Religion and Modernity”.
