Commentary of the Quran (Chapter 2:119)

A Bearer of Good News and Warner
بِسْمِ اللَّـهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ بِالْحَقِّ بَشِيرًا وَنَذِيرًا ۖ وَلَا تُسْأَلُ عَنْ أَصْحَابِ الْجَحِيمِ ﴿١١٩﴾
Translation:
2:119 Indeed We have sent you with the truth, as a bearer of good news and as a warner, and you will not be questioned concerning the inmates of hell.
Commentary: Praises and reprimands, rewards and punishments, inspire human beings to work in their best manners and display exceptional behavior. This is true at home, school, work and in greater society.
If there were only rewards for good behavior and good conduct without any punishments for mischief, many people would break an order. The fear of reprimands and punishments deters people from making mischiefs and misconducts. Therefore, the Quran always mentions divine rewards along with punishments.
The verse asserts: O Prophet We have sent you with a true message; give good news of Allah’s paradise to the believers for their righteous deeds and warn them from breaking divine laws with the Eternal Hellfire. Everyone is responsible for his action and be sure O Prophet “You will not be held accountable for the people of the Fire.”
اللَّهُمَّ أَحْسِنْ عَاقِبَتَنَا فِي الْأُمُورِ كُلِّهَا وَأَجِرْنَا مِنْ خِزْيِ الدُّنْيَا وَعَذَابِ الْآخِرَة
Word-for-Word Translation:
[إِنَّا] Verily we [أَرْسَلْنَاكَ] sent you [بِالْحَقِّ] with the truth [بَشِيرًا] (as) a bearer of glad tidings [وَنَذِيرًا] and a warner [وَ] and [لَا تُسْأَلُ] you will not be asked [عَنْ] about [أَصْحَابِ] dwellers [الْجَحِيمِ] of the blazing fire.
