Afghanistan ranked the worst place in the world for elder people

Afghanistan has been ranked as the worst place in the world for the elder people, according to a new report.

The report released by HelpAge International gauges the social and economic well-being of the older cross across 96 countries.

The report puts Norway as the best place to age, where Sweden secures the second place, Switzerland third place, Canada fourth, Germany fifth, Netherland secures sixth place, Iceland Seventh, United States eightth, Japan ninth and New Zealand secures tenth place.

Afghanisan has been put at the bottom of the list securing the 96th position and ranked as the worst place for the elder people.

Above Afghanistan are Malawi, West Bank and Gaza and Mozambique.

The report released on Tuesday looks at indicators such life expectancy, public transit and poverty rate for people older than 60.

The report also focuses especially on pensions. “On retirement income that older men and women can expect,” the HelpAge International chief executive officer Toby Porter told The Voice of America.
