The aim of Ashura’s holy movement according to Imam Hussain (AS)

SHAFAQNA – At the time of moving out of Medina to go towards Mecca, Imam Hussain (AS) wrote a will and gave it to his brother Mohammad Hanafiyah. In this will, after explaining his belief about monotheism, prophethood, and the day of Resurrection; Imam Hussain (AS) described his aim for moving out of Medina for Jihad: I have not moved out of Medina for the sake of selfishness, or for pleasure, or for corruption or oppression; rather my aim from this journey is to enjoin/urge good deeds and prevent bad deeds. My aim from this movement is to reform/correct the corruption among Ummah (Islamic nation), and to revive the tradition and rules of my grandfather, the prophet of Allah (SWT), as well as the tradition and ways of my father Amiral Momeneen, Imam Ali (AS) [1].
