AL KHOEI FOUNDATION: Statement on the Attack on Muslim Worshippers in Finsbury Park

SHAFAQNA – Al-Khoei Foundation condemns in the strongest terms the callous terrorist attack on Muslim worshippers at the Muslim Welfare House in Finsbury Park in the early hours of the morning on 19 June 2017. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of those killed and injured.

We have been at the scene of the incident since immediately after the attack, expressing our support for the community and the Mosque during this difficult time.

Attacks on faith communities are not isolated incidents. In choosing to plough worshippers in the Sacred Month of Ramadan the attacker epitomised the very definition of Islamophobia and hate crime. We urge our government and local authorities to tackle all forms of terrorism and violent extremism, including Islamophobia, equal rigour and seriousness. While extremists of all walks choose the language of hatred and violence, our message must always centre on love and tolerance. We will not be divided.
