Anti-fascist groups to protest Oxford University Union’s decision to invite French National Front Leader to speak on campus

SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association) – The French far-right leader, Marine Le Pen is due to speak at the Oxford university Union on February 5. In response, anti-fascist groups organised a protest rally at Oxford Town Hall.

John Tanner, who will be chairing the Unite Against Fascism (UAF) rally at Oxford Town Hall on Wednesday (4 Feb.), said: “The Oxford Union debating club should not be giving a platform to extreme right-wing politicians like Marine Le Pen.”

“I urge the Oxford Union to cancel the invitation. Oxford’s tradition of tolerance, racial harmony and internationalism is too precious to be jeopardized by this irresponsible stunt,” he added.

Many were outraged by Le Pen who tried using the attacks on the Paris magazine to launch attacks on Muslims and immigrants.
