Antiques returned from Belgium to be transfered to National Museum:Iranian VP

SHAFAQNA – Vice-President and Head of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (CHHTO) Masoud Soltanifar said returned antiques from Belgium will be transfered to National Museum.

According to IRNA, Soltanifar made the remarks at Tehran Mehrabad Airport on Thursday, when the antiques arrived in Tehran.

He said that officials are trying to return Achaemenian tablets to Iran.

Soltanifar added two other legal cases are being followed up in Europe and the USA for returning antiques to Iran.

The VP said one of the cases concerns Achaemenian tablets.

A collection of Iran’s antiques arrived in Tehran on Thursday evening.

After 33 years of following up and one year of legal diplomacy by the CHHTO, 349 items of antiques were returned to Iran from Belgium.

The items go back to 2nd and 1st millennia B.C.

Belgium Supreme Court in the city of Liege voted in favour of Iran in the case.
