Arbaeen soon in list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity

SHAFAQNA – Karbala Center for Researches and Studies of Imam Hussein Holy Shrine organized a joint meeting with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities in order to coordinate the registration of Arbaeen Pilgrimage internationally in the List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Abdul-Amir al-Quraishi, center director, stated in the meeting attended by several representatives of Iraqi universities, “This meeting came to review the final draft that will be discussed in UNESCO World Organization as we have prepared the special inventory for Arbaeen.”

The inventory will be submitted to UNESCO within two months.

The Center aims at consolidating the international character of the massive annual pilgrimage, which is characterized by its historical and cultural depth as well as its religious and cultural components, in addition to registering the pilgrimage according to the List of Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
