Australian man lost one arm and two hands in a shark attack

SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association) – A man has lost one arm and both hands in a shark attack in Western Australia.

The 23-year-old suffered horrific injuries after being mauled by the shark at Wylie Bay in the town of Esperance.

It has been reported he was surfing with his girlfriend at the time.

The victim is being flown to Perth for emergency treatment.

The ambulance service said the man lost one arm at the elbow and the other at the wrist as well as lacerations to the leg.

The local fisheries ministry is now out hunting the shark but will need permission from the Federal Government to kill it.

It is not known what species of shark was involved in the attack.

It was the second attack in Esperance in a year.

Last October, a man was seriously injured by a suspected great white shark while diving off Esperance.

Sharks are common in Australian waters, but the country has averaged fewer than two fatal attacks per year in recent decades.
