Can purification of the soul happen without God?

SHAFAQNA – Allah (SWT) in Ayah 21 of Surah Al-Noor says: “O’ you who believe, do not follow in Satan’s footsteps, whoever does so, Satan will make him/her to commit bad and wicked deeds. If it had not been for the God’s grace and mercy towards you, none of you would have ever been purified, but it is up to Allah (SWT) to purify whomsoever chosen. God is all knowing and wise.” Ayah 49 of Surah Al-Nesa also says: Have you not seen those who consider themselves purified? It is not like that, indeed it is Allah (SWT) who purifies whomsoever chosen and God will not oppress anyone even as little as the thread on the pit inside a date.
