SHAFAQNA – Abdullah ibn Herawai narrated: I was with Imam Ridha/Reza (AS) and he said: God bless the one who revives our case (The case of the Ahlul Bait (AS)). A person asked: How to revive your case? Imam (AS) replied: Learn about us and our culture, teach the Quran to others, because if people find out and hear about our attributes in gatherings, they will follow the family of the Prophet (PBUH). Herawi said: I told Imam Reza (AS): O’ the son of the Prophet of Allah (SWT), it has been narrated from Imam Sadeq (AS) who said: Whoever learns a subject/topic in order to argue with ignorant people or wants to boast about his knowledge with other scholars, or to attract others attentions to himself, the punishment for such person is hellfire.
Imam Reza (AS) said: My grandfather told the truth; and then asked: Do you know who are the mentioned ignorant? I replied: No, I do not know. Imam Reza (AS) asked again: Do you who are those who want to attract others attentions to themselves? I replied: No, I do not know. Imam (AS) explained: Swear to God, it is referred to false claims of Imamate. Therefore, if someone learns a subject in order to argue with story-telling fools who are against us, and wants to boast about his knowledge against the scholars of the family of the Prophet (PBUH), and claims falsely for Imamate, and tries to attract others attentions to himself, such a person belongs to hell. But if seeking knowledge is not for those (mentioned) purposes, God will bless such a person, because this will revive the case of Welayah and will strengthen our methods and programmes .
