The consequence of misleading other people from the right path of God

SHAFAQNA – It is narrated from Imam Sadeq (AS) who said: In the old days, a man was looking for Halal sustenance as well as to gather wealth. But he could not do it in Halal way and tried to do it in Haram way, but still he could not. And then Satan appeared to him and said: You wanted to gather wealth from Halal way which was not possible, and you could not do it in Haram way either; now do you want me to teach you a way to succeed in what you wish? He replied: Yes, I am willing.

Satan said: Invent a religion and invite people to it, and he did as Satan said. People gathered around him and followed him, and he also gathered wealth. One day suddenly he realized what an inappropriate act he had done to mislead people, and he thought to himself: There is no way my repentance is accepted unless I inform those who I misled that I invented all those things and ask them to revert. I told my followers that I invented all those things and all my sayings were baseless and futile, but they said: You are lying, your sayings were right; you have lost your way.

When he heard those answers from people, he prepared a chain and locked it around his neck and said: I will not open it until God accepts my repentance. God revealed to the prophet of the time: Tell him, I swear to My Magnificence that if you call Me and weep until all your bits are separated from each other, I will not accept your repentance unless you inform those who died in your false religion or those who you misled about the realities of your work and they revert from your (false) religion [1].
