Crackdown against al-Wefaq in Bahrain reaches new heights

SHAFAQNA – The Freedoms and Human Rights Department at Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society issued a report revealing the widespread human rights and religious freedoms violations practiced by the Bahraini authorities in 2015.

The department monitored 1,765 arrest cases, including 120 children and 22 women, adding that 832 of the arrests took place through house raids. The department stressed that 798 torture cases were reported in detention centers, Criminal Investigation Department, pre-trial detention center and Jaw prison.

The report highlighted that 3 citizens who have links to the opposition political movement were killed.
