SHAFAQNA – It is narrated from the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) who said: There are four things which destroy the heart and the soul as well as help to grow the hypocrisy like water causes the growth of the tree. One of these, is to listen to useless and idle things [1]. Jaber ibn Abdullah has narrated from the Prophet (PBUH) who said: Satan was the first person who sang and the first who lamented. When the Prophet Adam (AS) ate from the forbidden tree, (Satan) sang a song and when Eve (AS) was ousted from the paradise and came to the earth, Satan remembered the blessings of the paradise and lamented [2].
In another narration, the Prophet (PBUH) said: Avoid listening to playing music and singing (which cause rapturous and ecstatic feelings) because it will cause the growth of hypocrisy in the heart, like water causes the growth of the greens [3]. It is also narrated from Imam Sadeq (AS) who said: The Qana music and singing (which cause rapturous and ecstatic feelings), will motivate hypocrisy and lead to poverty [4].
