Dua and submission to the will of Allah (SWT)

SHAFAQNA – It is narrated that a child of Imam Sadeq (AS) was very ill, and Imam (AS) was reciting Dua and begging God. Suddenly a noise was heard from the room, Imam (AS) went to see what happened, and some moments later he came out of the room but his condition changed a lot, but very calm and thoughtful. The narrator asked: O’ the son of the Prophet (PBUH), what happened? Has your child been cured? Imam Sadeq (AS) replied: No, my child died. I was surprised, and Imam (AS) continued: Until the fate/destiny is descended, our duty is to pray and beg God; but when the Divine Destiny comes, we submit (to the will of God).

The poem says: In the circle of destiny, we are the point of submission, the will is what You want, the decree is what You order. After carrying out our duty, whatever happens we will write in the God’s account, and we say: “God is enough for us, and Allah (SWT) is the best protector, helper and friend [1].” After those moments of pain and sufferings, a radical change happens, and all those pains will be transformed into calm and tranquillity; and no other condition can explain such a serious connection with God. Therefore, Allah (SWT) said: “Without doubt, those who patiently persevere will truly receive a reward without measure [2].”
