Export of gas condensates exceed 6million tons in Iran

SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association)- Over 6.4 million tons of gas condensates worth more than $5.8 billion has been exported from Pars Special Economic Energy Zone since the beginning of the current year (March 21, 2014).

General Director of the Zone Khodadad Rahimi told IRNA that the exports show an increase of 41% in terms of weight and 76% in terms of value in comparison with the same period last year.

Rahimi further remarked that during the said period over 5.5 tons of non-oil commodities including local products of the region worth over $4.2 billion were exported which showed an increase of 12% in terms of weight over the same period last year.

Totally, over 11.9 million tons of goods including light and heavy polyethylene, gas condensates, propane, butane, benzene, and sulfur granules worth over $10.8 billion were exported from this region.

The figures show an increase of 26% in terms of weight and 32% in terms of value over the same period last year.

Rahimi said that the products were mainly exported to China, Japan, the UAE, India, Indonesia, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Turkey, Romania, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, he added, over 174.8 thousand tons of goods worth $966.6 million were imported through customs department of the zone during the same period which were mainly the equipment required by the petrochemical complexes under construction in the country.

Pars Special Economic Energy Zone is located in southeast of Bushehr, 300 km southeast of Bushehr Port and is about 105 km from South Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf.
