SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi answered a question about fasting for addicts.
Question: Can those who cannot stop smoking cigarettes or opium, fast and smoke?
The Grand Ayatollah Makarem: According to Wajib precaution, fasting (and smoking) is not correct, and all people are capable of stopping (to smoke) during days in the Month of Ramadhan, and this blessed month is a good opportunity to give it up.
