Ghana Council of Shia Ulama donated food items to needy people

SHAFAQNA – The Council of Shia Ulama (CSU) in Ghana has donated food items to the Osu Children’s Home and the Accra Psychiatric Hospital to mark the fifth anniversary of the death of Sheikh Abdul Salam Bansi, the Founder of Shia in Ghana.

The Leader of the CSU, Sheikh Suleman Yakubu Bandawe, said it had always been the character of the late founder to help the poor and needy when he was alive.

“We have pledged to emulate his character and share his philosophy in the world, even though he has gone to his Creator,” he said.

Donation

The Public Relations Officer of the CSU, Sheikh Iddriss Dumah, on behalf of the group, donated 15 bags of rice and four boxes of cooking oil to the children’s home, while the hospital received 10 bags of rice and five boxes of cooking oil.

He called on other institutions to assist the government in taking care of institutions, especially by donating toiletries and food items to them.

“It is not the desire of the inmates to be here and so we need to collectively support them in any little way we can,” he said.

Commendation

The Assistant Manageress of the Osu Children’s home, Madam Dorothy Pearl Kumah, commended the group for the love and care extended to her outfit and asked Allah to increase their blessing.

“May the blessing of the Good Lord be with the late Sheikh Bansi and the entire Shia family in Ghana and the world over,” she said.

For his part, the Head of the Nursing Division of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital, Mr Emmanuel Pappoe, said the donation had come at the right time because it was faced with challenges in feeding inmates.

“Our debtors have stopped providing us with food because we owe them,” he explained.
