SHAFAQNA – In a bid to further broaden its advertising reach, Twitter has reportedly signed a deal with Google that will see its tweets once again appear in the search giant’s results.Twitter has 284 million active monthly users and claims to have 185 billion unique views of tweets outside its website. However, slower user growth has prompted the company to look for other means of expanding its advertising appeal.
Engineers from Twitter and Google are already working on the arrangement, which will go live in the first half of this year, sources told Bloomberg.
The companies had a similar arrangement in 2009-2011.
Earlier this week, Twitter announced a deal with news-reading app Flipboard and Yahoo! Japan to display promoted tweets on their sites.
Ameet Ranadive, Twitter’s senior product director, said in a blog: “For the thousands of brands already advertising on Twitter, these new partnerships open a significant opportunity to extend the reach of their message to a larger audience.”
Later today Twitter is set to announce its revenue for the year, forecast at $1.365bn-$1.375bn (£895m-£900m). ®
