Group Protests Continued Detention of El Zakzaky in Kwara, Nigeria

SHAFAQNA- Members of Islamic Movement in Nigeria in Kwara state staged a peaceful protest at the weekend against the continued detention of the leader of Shi’ites in Nigeria, Sheik Ibrahim Al ZakZaky, by the military.

Those who staged the protest at the Gate Six of the Ilorin central mosque shortly after the Juma’at service on Friday, demanded the unconditional release of the Shi’ites’ leader and compensation for families of those killed.

They also demanded that the corpses of those allegedly killed by the army be released to their family members for burial, even as they demanded compensation for damages caused to the movement’s demolished structures.

The protesters carried placards with various inscriptions such as “free zakzaky”, “Zaria Genocide: crime against humanity”.
