If husband’s religious belief changes, what is wife’s duty? The Grand Ayatollah Rouhani’s answer

SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Sadeq Rouhani answered a question about the duty of the wife if the husband changes his religious belief.

Question: We have been living abroad for a few years, and in this period my husband’s belief has changed completely, and now he has found new belief, and it can be said that he has become irreligious, what is the ruling (regarding this situation)?

The Grand Ayatollah Rouhani: If your husband is a negligent Muslim, the marriage remains intact, but if he leaves Islam, and converts to Christianity or Judaism, the breakdown of the marriage happens, and you become strangers to each other.
