Imam Hussain’s (AS) mission for awakening humanity (Part Two)

SHAFAQNA – In order to find out about the role of the family of Imam Hussain (AS) in awakening people after the martyrdom of Imam (AS), we need to consider the situation of the time. At that time the Middle East was controlled by the rulers of Shaam (Damascus). Meaning, the empires of that era, Roman and Persian surrendered.
If Ali ibn Abitaleb (AS) used to send governors for Persia, large parts of west Africa like Egypt, it was because the whole of the Middle East was taken by the Islamic government, that is now 50 countries with 50 governments. Imam Hussain (AS) said: I want to enlighten all in this Middle East from Egypt to central Asia, from central Asia to the west.
For doing that, my sister must be present, my children must be present; they will make speeches, my son must be present, Zainul Abedeed (AS), Zainab (AS) and my daughters must change Shaam fundamentally; we want words reach ambassadors. In the same war room where Christian Sir John and non-Christians are present, my daughters must make speeches, my grandson, Imam Baqer (AS) must make speech there. All of this group (Imam’s family) are for awakening the people of the Middle East and it was after all this (mission) that Islam became alive.
Imam Sajjad (AS) said: We went, revived the religion and returned. We did not go to govern. If the governance was in our hands, affairs would have been conducted better than this and it would have been 100% just. But if they have not given us the governance, we revived the religion with our blood. Now, no one talks about disbelief, there is no sign of slave trade. And you saw the situation changed.
Translated from speech by the Grand Ayatollah Javadi Amoli in 2005.
