Did Imam Reza (AS) speak in different languages?

SHAFAQNA – One of the events which took place between Imam Reza (AS) and the people of Basra was that Amr ibn Hadab asked Imam (AS): Mohammad ibn Fazl Hashemi have said things about you which hearts do not accept. Imam Reza (AS) asked: What has he said? Amr replied: He said to us that you know about everything which God has sent down, and you are familiar with and know all the languages, and words. Imam Reza (AS) said: Mohammad ibn Fazl has spoken the truth, and I have informed him about all that, and now you can come and ask me whatever you want. Amr said: More than anything else I will test you with languages and words, and that this Roman man, and this Indian, and the other Persian, and this one who is Turkish are here and we have prepared them for this test. Imam Reza (AS) said: Then speak in any language you like, and by the will of Allah (SWT), I shall answer them in their own languages. After that, each one of them asked a question in their own language, and Imam Reza (AS) answered them in their own language and words. All those present who saw this scene, became amazed and confessed that Imam Reza (AS) was more eloquent and knowledgeable in their languages than themselves [1].
