Iran, group5+1 foreign ministry deputies hold public session

SHAFAQNA – Deputy foreign ministers of Iran and the 5+1 member states started their public session here on Thursday night.

Foreign ministry deputies Abbas Araqchi and Majid Takht Ravanchi are representing Iran in the session.

Nuclear talks between Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his American counterpart John Kerry as well as the head of Atomic Energy Agency of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi and his US counterpart Ernest Moniz ended here on Thursday.

The talks between technical experts took one hour and a half to conclude while the foreign ministry deputies continued their discussion for a longer time.

Zarif, Kerry, Salehi and Moniz held their talks in Lausanne, Switzerland on Thursday morning.

Lausanne 2 talks started at 10 (local time) in Lausanne.

At the beginning, in addition to the two FMs, Ali Akbar Salehi and Ernest Moniz, two deputies to foreign minister Abbas Araqchi, Majid Takht-e-Ravanchi, US Assistant Secretary of State Wendy Sherman, EU Foreign Policy Deputy Chief Helga Schmidt were participating in the meeting.

After a while, the meeting was held in three separate sessions, and the deputies to foreign ministers ended their meeting a few minutes ago.

Political and technical talks are still being held in a meeting between Zarif- Kerry and Salehi-Moniz.
