Iran serious in nuclear talks: Official

SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association)- Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Iran is serious in its talks with G5+1 over its peaceful nuclear program.

He said reaching any kind of agreements in the talks calls for determination of other parties involved in the negotiations.

He made the remark in a meeting with the former Norwegian prime minister Kjell Magne Bondevik who is here to attend the international conference on World Against Violence and Extremism.

Zarif further outlined Iran’s measures to bring closer different viewpoints regarding the threat of extremism.

He pointed to a recent conference held in the holy city of Qom on the same issue and said the religious scholars participating in the meeting discussed ways of confronting Takfiri groups and stressed the need for exchange of views among different religions to find the best way to fight violence and extremism.

Referring to the Middle East developments, he stressed that all should endeavor to reinforce anti-terrorism attempts.

He called on the regional countries to play a more active role in this regard.

The Norwegian official expressed his concern over the growing trend of extremism in the Middle East.

He appreciated the initiative of the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in raising the issue in the world.

He hoped the nuclear talks would culminate in a final agreement which would lead to removal of non-constructive sanctions imposed on Iran.
