Iranian FM highlights regional cooperation to fight terrorism

SHAFAQNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Sunday that the main goal in the region should be fight against terrorism and Daesh and certain governments should improve their former wrong policies.

Mohammad Javad Zarif made the remarks in a meeting with his Cypriot counterpart Loannis Kasoulides.

He said that future of Syria should be figured out by its own people and Iran’s four articles plan for settlement of the Syrian crisis.

Concerning developments in Iraq, Zarif said that Iran helped Iraq establishm new government and Iran is ready to cooperate with all countries of the region to solve regional problems.

He underlined promotion of bilateral ties between Iran and Cyprus and said that the mutual relations are in a good level.

The Cypriot foreign minister, for his part, said that Cyprus is keen on ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran and willing to promote relations in all fields.

Kasoulides added that enhanced cultural and academic cooperation is on agenda and that delegations will visit Iran to promote cooperation in the fields of economy, energy and tourism soon.

Concerning regional issues, especially Syria, Kasoulides said that although Cyprus is a small country, but crisis in Syria has special importance for Cyprus, so Cyprus wants Syrian problem to be resolved as soon as possible.

He said that now the concern of the regional countries is the issue of ISIS (Daesh) , so it looks necessary that the issue of Syria to be solved by cooperation of different countries, consequently all countries could fight ISIS more effectively.

Loannis Kasoulides, at the end of the meeting, invited his Iranian counterpart to pay an official visit to Cyprus.
