Iranian short films make it to Italy’s “Religion Today” Festival

SHAFAQNA - Five short films by Iranian directors will be screened in the 18th edition of the Religion Today Film Festival in Italy.

Sorahi by Saeed Nejati, Namu by Salah Salehi, “On the Way” by Amir Sarrafha, Eteqad (Belief) by Amir Vahedi, and Charkh Chelak by Bahareh Kia Moqaddam and others, are the five Iranian motion pictures that have made it to the festival’s competition section.

17 other short films by filmmakers from countries like Germany, France, Italy, India and Armenia will compete at the festival, which is slated to be held on October 9-10 in Trento, Italy.

According to its website, Religion Today has been the foremost international and itinerant film festival dedicated to Cinema and Religions for a culture of peace and dialogue between faiths, cultures, peoples and individuals.

Established in 1997, it promotes a journey “exploring the differences”, both in religious practices and beliefs and in cinematic styles and languages, towards a mutual enrichment through reciprocal knowledge and comparison, the website said.
Together with the world cinema competition, open to any film with a religious connection, it offers a platform for exchanging ideas and viewpoints, including a “living workshop” involving filmmakers of different faiths and nationalities.
