Iraqi Shia Sunni heads stress Islamic unity

SHAFAQNA – Hujjat-ul-Islam Seyyed Alaa Moussavi, head of Shia endowment office, met with Sheikh Mahmoud al Samidee, head of Sunni endowment office in Iraq, both clerics highlighting importance of continuing moderate and unifying dialogue between Islamic schools of thought. Hujjat-ul-Islam Moussavi said,” Shia and Sunni pulpits have to expand the morale of fraternity and Islamic unity based on the recommendations of jurisprudents especially those by grand Ayatollah Sistani.” Head of Shia endowment office hailed measures taken by Sunni endowment office for strengthening fraternity among Iraqis amid the crisis in the country and added,” Shia endowment stands by Sunni endowment to cooperate with other government offices and will not spare any effort to boost solidarity between Shia and Sunni.” Sunni cleric congratulated the appointment of Hujjat-ul-Islam Moussavi as the head of Shia Endowment Office and extended his best prayers for the Shia scholar.

Both Iraqi clerics expressed gratitude over the meeting which is a manifest of solidarity between Islamic denominations in the country.
