IRNA/ US analyst advises Iran, G5+1 to reach a deal before deadline

SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association)- New York– A US analyst advised Iran, G5+1 to reach a deal before the November 24 deadline and said retake of Congress by Republicans can make the negotiations more complicated.

Jim Walsh an expert in international security and a research associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Security Studies Program (SSP) made the remarks in an interview with IRNA.

He referred to the beginning of new US Republican majority congress on January and said Republicans will pressure US President Barack Obama to augment the anti-Iran sanctions.

Walsh noted in the meantime that Obama as the president has the power to veto Republican’s decisions.

Republicans have to compromise with Democrats because in the US governing system, White House is more powerful than Capitol Hill, he said.

The analyst underlined that any congress’s anti-Iran bill need to be signed by US president and therefore, Obama has the power to veto the Republican’s efforts for increasing the sanctions.

Passage of time can make Iran-G5+1 talks more complicated and it is time for the two countries’ high-ranking officials to take opportunity for making brave political decisions.
