Is it allowed for a person to buy a grave for himself while he is alive? The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei’s answer

SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei answered a question about a person buying a grave for himself/herself for the purpose of owning it while he/she is alive.

Question: Is it allowed for a person to buy a grave for himself/herself for the intention of owning it while he/she is alive?

The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei: If the location of the grave is in the legal ownership of someone else, there is a problem buying it; but if it is the part of a land which has been endowed for burying dead believers, buying or keeping it for yourself is not right because it prevents others to bury dead people (in there).
