Islam propagates peace as the main principle in international relations (Part One)

SHAFAQNA – Islam has valuable principles in its social ethics, principles which are only proportional to the view of genuine peace. In this short text, we will discuss concepts like human equality, religious tolerance, religious and human brotherhood and will show that without believing and commitment in a durable peace and peaceful coexistence suitable grounds for establishing principles of Islamic social ethics will not be provided.

1.    Principle of human dignity

Freedom is the basic element of of human rights which is recognised by classic democracies. Apart from freedom in all its dimensions, equality is on the other side of the scale of the human rights. These keywords are closely related to the subject of peace and human brotherhood. Islam considers all the humanity as equal in presence of law without any discrimination regarding race, creed, nationality, colour, belief.
According to the holy Quran, piety is the only criterion of dignity in Islam, a criterion mentioned in Ayah 13 of Surah Al-Hujarat: O’ mankind, We have created you from a male and female and set you up as nations and tribes so you recognise one another. The noblest of you with God is the most pious, God is aware, informed.
