SHAFAQNA (International Shia News Association) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said the country is ready to work with Lebanon in fighting terrorism.

The Islamic Republic of Iran would stand by Lebanese people and army and it is fully ready for political, security and intelligence cooperation (with Lebanon) to confront terrorist and extremist groups, he said in a meeting with Lebanese Defense Minister Samir Moqbel here in Tehran on Monday.

He also expressed the hope that Lebanese political groups and people could pick their new presidents through talks and consensus.

Samir Moqbel, for his part, appreciated Iran’s military gift to Lebanon, and said, “The gift, for sure, will play an important role in boosting our resistance against takfiri and terrorist groups.”
