Judiciary chief denounces propaganda against Iran’s human rights

SHAFAQNA – Human rights propaganda raised against the Islamic Republic of Iran is mostly politically-motivated, and sometimes rooted in a hypocritical view, Amoli Larijani said.

Americans accuse Iran of violating human rights while they do not show any reaction to Saudi Arabia where there are no elections and people have no involvement in government, he stated.

He also referred to the brutal slaughter of Yemenis by the Saudi regime as another case of breaching human rights by Riyadh, asking, “Isn’t Saudi Arabia a clear example of human rights violations?”

Ayatollah Amoli Larijani further pointed to the Saudi rulers’ decision to execute prominent Shiite cleric Sheikh Nimr Baqir al-Nimr, saying it is surprising that Americans claim to advocate human rights but do not show any reaction to such cases.

“Thus, the human rights propaganda against Iran is (based on) double-standard behaviors, and there are other intentions behind them,” he reiterated.

Iran in numerous cases has rejected Western politicized criticisms against its human rights record, stressing that every country, based on its ideological beliefs, has its own system, and other states cannot decide for it.
