Kuwait’s Grand Shia Cleric, Ayatollah Sayyed Muhammad Baqir Al-Muhri passed away

SHAFAQNA - Ayatollah Sayyed Muhammad Baqir Al-Musawi Al-Muhri, one of Kuwait’s leading scholars and representatives of Grand Ayatollahs, died in heart attack at the age of 67.

He was the imam of the Imam Ali mosque in al-Umariye of Kuwait. The cleric also was so active in defending the rights of Shiites and was the head of the Association of Coexisting Muslims and Christians.

He studied in the seminaries of Najaf, Iraq under Grand Ayatollah Abul-Qassim Khoei and Mohammad Baqir al-Sadr.

At the time of Imam Khomeini’s presence in Najaf he was an ardent follower of him and had always been a supporter of the Islamic Revolution, before and after the victory.

During his stay in Kuwait, Ayatollah al-Muhri has always been known as a safe haven for Shiites and was the most influential and trusted figures for the officials of Kuwait and Iran.

The late Ayatollah Muhri always was an advocate for the peaceful coexistence and proximity of Islamic schools of thought, and has numerous publications in the rituals of Hajj and Islamic religious affairs.
