SHAFAQNA – Muslims around the world have been fasting during daylight hours since May 26 in observance of the holy month of Ramadan.
On Wednesday evening, local Muslims gathered with friends and guests for the second annual community iftar — or evening meal — sponsored by the Islamic Community Center of Lancaster at the Farm & Home Center.
In introductory remarks, center board member Shakeel Amanullah explained that his organization is doing its part to make a difference in Lancaster County, noting 70 percent of funds it raises are funneled back into the community.
