Lena-Meryem Wielandt, New Muslim from Germany: Currents of Life

SHAFAQNA-Islam is growing rapidly in the West. It is a fact that Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world and is expected to outstrip Christianity by the end of the century. Reports show that the number of Muslims will grow more than twice as fast as the world’s population from now until 2050. In Europe, Muslims will make up 10% of the overall population by the middle of the century. And the number of those who convert to Islam is significant, many of them are well-educated young people and many are women. But behind the numbers and statistics there are the people who have embraced Islam. Each individual who has reverted to Islam has a unique story to tell. In this episode of “Currents of Life” we will become acquainted with Lena-Meryem Wielandt. She is a young woman from Germany. She was born and raised a Christian. She learned about Islam through a Muslim girlfriend at school. She eventually converted after studying the Quran and religious scripture intensively. Lena-Meyrem recalls the day of her conversion as a day of rebirth. She is now an active member of the Muslim community and is married to a young Muslim man living in Germany.
