SHAFAQNA (International Shia News Association)-Defense for Children International Palestine filed complaints against Israel on behalf of four Palestinian children who were mistreated while in Israeli custody, a statement said Wednesday.

The DCI statement said that in one incident about which complaints were filed, three teenagers from Osarin in the Nablus district were put in solitary confinement and assaulted during their interrogation by Israeli authorities.
In another incident, a Palestinian teen from al-Eizariya in the Jerusalem district was “severely beaten” during his detention, leaving his hand broken and his body badly bruised.
The boys were between the ages of 16 and 17, DCI lawyer Iyad Misk said in the statement.
Misk said the incidents were violations of international and local laws.
Three complaints were filed against Israel’s Shin Bet intelligence agency and one against the police, the statement said.
According to a 2013 report by the UN’s Children’s Fund, Israel is the only country in the world where children are systematically tried in military courts and subjected to “cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment or punishment.”
Over the past decade, Israeli forces have arrested, interrogated, and prosecuted around 7,000 children between 12 and 17, mostly boys, at a rate of “an average of two children each day,” UNICEF said.
