SHAFAQNA (International Shia News Association)-Presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh said Saturday that a just solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict would lead to lasting stability in the rest of the Middle East.
Abu Rudeineh told Ma’an that an end to Israeli occupation would result in the “the headwaters of terrorism drying out” and a return to balance in the region.
“The offensive on Gaza is the clearest proof that a just and permanent solution must be worked out to obtain legitimate rights for the Palestinian people,” he said.
Regional and international forces “must work hard … to establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
Abu Rudeineh’s comments came as US Secretary of State John Kerry was in the region to garner regional support for a US-led initiative against the Islamic State militant group.
