Malaysia Halal exhibit set to kick off on April 5

SHAFAQNA – Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS), scheduled for April 5-8, will highlight all aspects of Islamic life.

The halal concept goes beyond food items to cover fields like tourism, Islamic fashion, music, banking and arts, CEO of Malaysia’s External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) Mohd Shahreen said on Monday.

The concept refers to the quality of products, which will also attract non-Muslim buyers, he added.

Shahreen noted that the halal industry could spread international humane values and present a bright picture about Islam, which is being destroyed by terrorism and extremism.

Over 70 countries and hundreds of companies will take part in the annual event, he said.

Middle Eastern countries are taking the opportunity to promote their products during the event, as Malaysia is a vital commercial center in ASEAN and East Asia, he added.
