Marrying during Iddah due to ignorance of the rules / the Grand Ayatollah Shobairi’s answer

SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Shobairi Zanjani answered a question about marrying during Iddah (a period of time which the woman observes after divorce or death of her husband).

Question: A woman has divorced from her permanent husband. She has asked about Iddah but she has been told wrongly that because she has not been near her husband for the past two years, then she has no Iddah; so she married another man (temporary Nikah) in her Iddah, and they have been near each other. What is the ruling about this Nikah?

The Grand Ayatollah Shobairi: The mentioned Nikah is void (Batel), and as they have been near each other during Iddah, those two have become Haram to each other for ever.
