MERS breakout in South Korea

SHAFAQNA - Two more patients have reportedly died in South Korea amid the outbreak of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), bringing the total number of fatalities to 16.

South Korean officials reported two more deaths and five new cases on Monday in the ever-increasing outbreak of MERS in the country; they said that the current death toll already stands at 16.

According to the South Korean Health Ministry, the total number of MERS cases in the country has risen to 150, with 17 patients remaining in unstable condition.

The World Health Organization has, meanwhile, described the outbreak as “large and complex”, saying that more cases are expected in the near future.
