Muslims step up to offer Nepal help – Earthquake

SHAFAQNA – A massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck 77 kilometres (48 miles) northwest of Nepal’s capital Kathmandu on 25 Apr 2015, at 0611 GMT, toppling houses, dismantling office blocks and towers, and killing thousands of people. More than two dozen people were also reported killed in neighboring India, China and Bangladesh.

The Government of Nepal is reporting over 1,000 dead; these numbers are expected to increase. There are no figures yet on affected populations. The Government is requesting international assistance.

As usual, Islamic humanitarian and relief organizations around the world have reacted quickly to the disaster, calling for support as they respond with vital humanitarian assistance.
