Orly has created a breathable halal nail polish for Muslims

SHAFAQNA – It’s easy to forget the little things that aren’t suitable for those who live halal.

We know that there are certain foods that aren’t allowed, but for most of us, that’s about it.

Muslim women have to stay aware of all the other little things, created by brands that regularly fail to provide a diverse range of products to accommodate people’s needs – whether that’s a limited range of foundation shades or ingredients that don’t meet halal guidelines.

That’s why Orly’s new collaboration with MuslimGirl.com is a big deal: it’s a brand making an effort to provide beauty products specifically for Muslim people.

The collaboration includes #HalalPaint, a halal certified nail polish. The polish is breathable, which is important for Muslim women who take part in wudu, a ritual performed before prayer that requires water touching every part of the body, and is available in a range of six colours.

The founder of MuslimGirl.com, Amani Al-Khatahbeh, was heavily involved in the polishes’ creation and branding, giving the shades names including ‘Ig-Noor the Haters’ and ‘What the Fatima?’.

‘Collaborating on a breathable nail polish line for Muslim women means creating space for them in the beauty industry by making options available that cater to their needs,’ Amani told Refinery29.

‘Not only is #HalalPaint legit halal-certified, but it’s [also] an answer to a beauty practice that some Muslims have otherwise found to be difficult coupled with their religious practice.
