Pakistan: First Shia party representative became minister in Balochistan government

SHAFAQNA – Agha Syed Mohammad Raza, a Member of Balochistan Assembly, has taken oath as provincial minister for law and parliamentary affairs yesterday. He became first elected legislator of any Shia party in Pakistan that has been appointed as minister.

Mr. Raza, a member of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen, leading Shia party in Pakistan, was elected Member of Provincial Assembly Balochistan in 2013 elections. By so doing, he also made history since he was first candidate of any Shia party in Pakistan who was directly elected to any legislative assembly by public votes.
