Palestine President: ‘All options are open after minister’s death’

SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association)- All options are open for the Palestinian leadership following the murder of the Palestinian Authority Minister Ziad Abu Ein at the hands of Israel, the Anadolu Agency reported PA President Mahmoud Abbas saying.

Abbas’ remarks came during an emergency meeting of the Palestinian leadership in Ramallah.

Abu Ein, a Palestinian official in charge of the Israeli settlements file at the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO), died after suffocating on tear gas fired by the Israeli army yesterday.

Abbas said: “Today we were saddened by the martyrdom of one of our heroes in the field of popular resistance, and we are determined to continue our popular resistance and fight against the settlements and end the occupation.”

“Abu Ein’s death is a crime that cannot be tolerated; therefore the Palestinian leadership has met to determine our future plan and I say all options remain open before us.”

Abbas added: “Israel has pledged to investigate the crime and tomorrow we will hear different scenarios about Abu Ein death.”

The Palestinian president pointed out that one scenario would claim that Abu Ein died of a cardiac arrest and no one assaulted him while a second would claim that he was never in Turmusiya and the Israeli soldiers never saw him.

“At the end of the day, no one will be held responsible for his death, but I say you [Israel] killed Ziad Abu Ein.” he concluded.
