Performing Mot’ah (temporary marriage) for having a halal relationship in cyberspace / the Grand Ayatollah Khamenei’s Fatwa

SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei answered question about Mot’ah (temporary marriage) in cyberspace.

Question: 1) Is it correct to perform Mot’ah in cyberspace for having a Halal relationship in cyberspace? 2) Is it essential to know the other person at the time of reciting for marriage contract?

The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei: 1) Writing is not enough, but there is no problem to recite for Mot’ah by phone and similar to that, by observing the necessary conditions. And one of those conditions according to Wajib precaution is that, marring a virgin girl, it is necessary to have the permission of her father or paternal grandfather; and therefore, according to precaution without it, the marriage is not correct. 2) On its own, it is not necessary; as long as the other person you are addressing during marriage contract is known, will suffice.
