President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai will visit China at the end of this month to attend the Istanbul Process – Heart of Asia Ministerial Conference.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said Monday that the acting foreign minister Zarar Ahmad Osmani met with the the ambassador of China to Afghanistan to discuss the upcoming visit by President Ghani to China and the Istanbul Process- Heart of Asia Foreign Ministerial Conference.
A statement released by MoFa said a delegation will visit China before 15th October in a bid to make preparations for President Ghani’s visit to China and the Istanbul Process – Heart of Asia Ministerial Conference.
The Istanbul Process – Heart of Asia Ministerial Conference was established late in 2011 to provide a platform to discuss regional issues, particularly encouraging security, political, and economic cooperation among Afghanistan and its neighbors.
The countries participating in the Istanbul process have agreed on political consultation involving Afghanistan and its near and extended neighbors.
The participating countries also agreed to a sustained incremental approach to implementation of the Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) identified in the Istanbul Process document, and seeking to contribute and bring greater coherence to the work of various regional processes and organisations, particularly as they relate to Afghanistan.
