SHAFAQNA (International Shia News Association)-Security sources say dozens of people have been killed or wounded when a bomb struck a hospital used by Ansarullah fighters of the Shia Houthi movement in Yemen’s oil-rich eastern province of Ma’rib.

The attack took place in the town of Mazjar, situated 80 kilometers (50 miles) east of the capital, Sana’a, on Sunday as an assailant rammed his explosive-laden car into the field hospital.

The hospital was being used by Houthi fighters to treat their wounded from battles with pro-government forces in recent months.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but the al-Qaeda group in Yemen has threatened Houthis with such acts of violence.

Separately, hundreds of Yemenis took to the streets in Sana’a on Sunday to demand the withdrawal of Ansarullah fighters from the capital.

Protesters from the February 11 Revolution Movement marched along the main Zubairi road in Sana’a, chanting slogans against the Houthi fighters.

Representatives of the Ansarullah movement and the Yemeni government signed a deal on September 21 to establish a government of technocrats within a month.

The Yemeni protesters have hailed the agreement as a great achievement. They say the deal would hopefully, in the long run, put an end to their grievances.

Ansarullah activists have been staging demonstrations in the capital for more than a month, demanding the government’s ouster over corruption.

The Ansarullah movement played a key role in the popular uprising that forced the former dictator, Ali Abdullah Saleh, to step down after more than 33 years in power.
