presstv.ir/ Nigerians mark martyrdom anniversary of Islam’s third Imam Hussain

SHAFAQNA – The mourning procession in the city of Zaria was peaceful as thousands of Shia Muslims, clad in black, marched through streets to mourn the martyrdom anniversary of third Shia Imam Hussain and seventy two of his loyal companions on the tenth of Muharram in the battle of Karbala.
Every year, the tenth of Muharram is the day of mourning and remembrance for the killing of Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. The mourners condemned Yazid, then Ummayad Caliph and praised Imam Hussain. These mourners believe the battle of Karbala was between the forces of good and evil. It was a battle between justice and injustice which has continued up until this day. The mourning ceremonies weren’t all peaceful across Nigeria. The country’s Islamic Movement says people have been killed following a bomb attack at Ashura processions in the restive north eastern town of Potiskum in Yobe state. Mourners and marchers have been frequently targeted in Nigeria. At this year’s international Quds Day rally in Zambia, 32 people were killed by the Nigerian military. But, justice hasn’t been served in this case yet.
