Punjab Govt decides to Ban Moharram processions and Shiite scholars

Punjab Government has decided to restrict Azadari and Shiite scholars from speeches. According to details Home sectary Punjab Major ( R) Azam Suleman issued a notification after prior approval from home department. The notification said that only those scholars would be permitted to address the procession who will be given licence and all the Shiite religious scholars will have to submit a certificate in which they will give an undertaken to avoid fiery speeches.

It should be mentioned that Shiite Muslims across the country are preparing to commemorate great sacrifice of Hazarat Imam Hussain (AS) with great zeal and fervor. Shiite scholars while responding to these restrictions said that Azadar is integral part of their faith and they will not tolerate any restriction on it.
